Modern Day Analysis
A modern day analysis of the Cold War is the treaty that Barrack Obama recently signed with the Russian leader. The treaty basically just made the countries alliances. This implies that they weere on uneasy grounds before that. I think it is good that both countries can get a long even after their hostile past.
America is better!
I think america was more equal and fair during the Cold War. They are also better because they never backed down or got intimidated by the Russians, despite their best efforts. The Americans are superior in nearly every way in my opinion. If I had to pick a side, I think it would obviously be the USA.
The Final Example of Tension
The final example of tension in the cold war was the Cuban Missle Crisis. The Russians had missles become operational in Cuba, a neighbor country to America. The Americans had missles in Turkey, a neighboring country to the Soviet Union. Both nations were refusing to take out their missles until finally we made a deal with them. If they removed the nukes then we would promise them that we would not invade Cuba. This elevated the stakes even more than they were before.
Even More More Tension
The final example of tension between the USSR and the United States was the U-2 incident. The Americans had been running planes over Russia to take pictures. The United States told Russia that they had ceased the flights. During a meeting between the countries a U-2 was shot down flying over Russia. The pilot, Frances Gary Powers, was killed creating another reason for tension between the two super powers.
